Mathew Brown

My professional background is a mixture of education and business ownership. I have been employed as both a teacher and in leadership roles (curriculum and pastoral) working predominantly at KS4 and 5. Around eight years ago I purchased a small business in Whitby and have worked to secure a strong market position alongside undertaking a range of roles in the local community on a voluntary basis.

During my time in the education sector I developed a wealth of skills engaging with teams in a variety of contexts; working flexibly, communicating effectively and upholding high professional standards were central to my work ethic. Former colleagues have described me as a ‘can do’ man and someone who understood the varying needs of young people and adapted accordingly to balance my determination to facilitate their academic success and well-being in equal measure
